C Spillard was born in the UK’s West Country, just in time to endure last century’s coldest winter.
As a child she spent a year in the USA, and emerged from this experience with a desire to be an astronaut. This led to a career in physics investigating such matters as: what happens to radio waves in the atmosphere? How hot does the metal get in electric motors? And how many wind turbines do they need to power Leeds?
An eco-enthusiast, she campaigns on environmental and economic issues and has even stood for political office on those grounds. The local Neighbours’ Association meet in her front room.
All of which makes her well-placed to write surreal fantasy and science fiction, some of which can be read gratis, here.
